The Grand Rapids ABK Men’s team was started in 2010 and has won two US Adult Futsal national championships (2014 and 2016). ABK – short for “Ankle Breakers” – currently plays in the National Futsal Premier League which includes 10 teams from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Over the course of its young history, Grand Rapids ABK has already sent 5 players to play with the US Men’s National Futsal Team.
Saturday, December 7 will be ABK’s first game in L.C. Walker Arena against the Muskegon Risers. Grand Rapids ABK’s Fabian Rodriguez commented:
“We are excited to get the opportunity to play at the L.C. Walker Arena and be part of the awesome environment that the Risers have created. Although arena soccer is not a sport we practice, we see many similarities between Futsal and Arena and we are excited for the challenge!”
The Risers will make a return trip to ABK on December 20 for the second-ever futsal match between the two organizations.
